Site Description

53 Degrees North Outdoor Shows, takes place in Zebedee’s Yard Posterngate, Hull, HU1 2JN, which is a large rectangular space with a level block paved and asphalt surface. Food, bars and merchandise stalls are spread around the edge of the site. It is a 3,000 capacity festival.

Level Access across main site.
Main entrance to site is cobble. Alternative entrance can be arranged in advance.

Main access is from Princes Dock Street, with other emergency exits leading to Whitefriargate and Posterngate.

There is one stage approx. 60m and is opposite the main entrance.

Personal Assistants

Free tickets are available for a personal assistant or support worker to accompany you to 53 Degrees North.

Please fill out the Access Request Form if you require a ticket for a personal assistant

If you require us to provide you with a chaperone to enable access to some of the disabled facilities for the day, we may be able to do so.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not purchase a ticket for your Personal Assistant as you may be entitled to one at no extra cost via our PA Ticket Scheme. This can be requested via the Access Form.

Viewing platform

There is a limited number of spaces for the viewing platform and therefore will be treated as a first come first serve basis. If you require a space please fill out the access request form. 

There is a stewarded viewing platform with kick bar situated at the front and to the left of the stage.

In order to gain access to the viewing platform, you need a viewing platform wristband. This also comes with a lanyard that can be worn by a personal assistant or companion so that they can join you in that area.

There is an accessible toilet next to the viewing platform.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs that are registered with an organisation that is a member of Assistance Dogs UK are welcome at the Festival.

Travel / Parking

Taxis / Pick up / Set down

Taxi Drop off / Pre booked pick up/set down is available immediately adjacent to the entrance of the festival.

There is a Hackney Carriage rank approx. 140m from festival main entrance - check for rank operation.

 

Public Transport

Hull Paragon interchange approx.. 700m from the festival site

Some city bus service operate to and from Carr Lane and Alfred Gelder Street closer to the festival site

Although we are unable to providing parking the festival site and main entrance is situated opposite Princes Quay shopping centre, which provides designated disabled parking spaces on levels 2, 4 and 6, which have direct access to the shopping centre. The car park has two large lifts, which allow access to any parking floor including the ground floor.

The ground floor exit of Princes Quay is opposite the festival site.

There are also Hull city council car parks situated round the city

The main entrance to 53 Degrees North is on Princes Dock Street.

Alternative wheelchair access (closer to viewing platform) will be via the Whitefriargate entrance opposite Parliament Street.

The wristband exchange will be opposite the main entrance to Zebedee's Yard on Princes Dock Street.

Should you require assistance at any point during the event please don’t hesitate to contact any of the 53 Degrees North volunteers who you will find at the merchandise area and at entrances to wrist-banded areas of the festival site.

Access to Performance

At this time we are unable to provide BSL interpreters, however we are trying our best to change this. Please let us know if BSL interpreters would be useful for you.

Toilets

There are two accessible toilets situated in the toilet area approximately 35m from the front of the stage and approximately 45m from the main entrance. There is also one accessible toilet in the viewing area.

Medical and Welfare Services

There will be trained first aiders and ambulance on site. First aid will be signposted.

Strobe Lighting

As a rule no strobe lighting will be used during performances at 53 Degrees North. If this were ever to change we are committed to making audiences aware of this both before the festival and on the festival site.

For any performances with strobe lighting we would put ‘STROBE’ on the information boards at the site entrance, and our team will inform you that strobe lighting will be used and when it will be used.

 

We have a large number of stewards in each area of the festival. If you are struggling to find anything or need some assistance on the day please speak to a steward and they will do their best to help.

•    Complete the Access Request Form with a valid ticket reference number and supporting evidence.

•    Return the form to us via the online form, email or post

•    We will endeavour to respond within 7 working days to confirm your request.

If posting the form please do not send originals of supporting evidence.

You will be asked to supply supporting documentation as part of this application form.

Please send in a scanned copy or a picture from your mobile device of your evidence. Please feel free to black-out any information that relates to amount of benefit paid or health conditions etc. that might be on the documents.

·       Front page of Attendance Allowance letter (no specific rate required)

·       Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind)

·       Recognised Assistance Dog ID card

 

We recognise that the evidence above might not include everyone that has an access requirement. If you do not have any of the above evidence but wish to apply for one or more access provisions, complete the Access Requirement Form stating why you require them. You are welcome to post or email copies of any additional evidence that supports your application if you have any, or contact us to discuss your application. Your application will be judged on a case-by-case basis
